So as you may have grown to expect, we had a ball this Frieze week! We know that the Frieze Fair itself can feel a bit out of reach and out of touch for a lot of artists. Even though Char and I managed to get ourselves onto the VIP opening night guest list, its still an event that can feel elitist and unwelcoming for some. Thats why there are organisations like us of course, and it would be positively rude of us to not take advantage of the free champaign on offer, now wouldn’t it?!
This year we had a lot of fun and the whole fair felt to have quite a playful vibe. We enjoyed crawling around in this for some time, sloshing our booze everywhere, although we never quite worked out what it actually was!
Here are a few more pics of our best bits…….
We particularly enjoyed live drawing by Ken Kagami who was drawing visitors genitals in 30 seconds a go! Amazing…
….and he was clearly psychic when it came to drawing Char and I and our best features!
We also checked out some other great shows in the week including the Bill Viola and Kishio Suga opening…
…and Jade caught the Frank Bowling show at the Hales Gallery in Shoreditch…
Laura was on a mission in the East mid week as she caught shows at The Approach, The Maureen Paley and Laura Bartlett Galleries. Awesome stuff spotted!
The art fairs were also far from over as our Farah also headed East to check out the Independent Artists Fair at the Rag Factory.
Here are some of her favourite picks….
I also had an awesome time at The Other Art Fair and the Monika Art Fair which both take place at the Truman Brewery. As always the opening night was great fun and I was lucky enough to be asked to attend the press preview and take an early appointment to visit the Green Room, an exciting part of the fair showcasing the work of Sweet ‘Art artist Rebecca Mason. Rebecca is a friend of Sweet ‘Art and showed some of her awesome neon works in our fashion week show Seams.
Check out some pics I took of the Green Room after some tasty absinth and a risky confession, very surreal!
Here are some of our other best bits! So nice to meet up with so many Sweet ‘Arts at the fair too, including Jamie Chapman, Ant Pearce, Jo Dennis and Beast and Burden. Awesome night!
Char also caught the 1:54 art fair at Somerset House and enjoyed these great pieces…..
…and finally here are a few other highlights of what was a super Frieze week Sweet style!
